Condor Ferries Routes to France

Condor Ferries operate sailings on two routes between the UK and France, which are the Poole-Cherbourg crossing and the Poole-St Malo crossing.

You’ll benefit from free amendments up to 48 hours before your departure (subject to paying any difference in fare) and the company also allows you to take pets on sailings to France.

Condor Ferries Timetables and Schedule

Condor Ferries usually operate up to 2 direct sailings per week each way on the Poole to Cherbourg crossing during peak season (May to September), with a total journey time of a little over 6.5 hours. Alternatively you can take the indirect service (via Jersey) if the direct sailing times aren’t convenient for your travel plans.

Up to 4 sailings per week each way are operated on the Poole to St Malo route and the crossing takes around 6 hours 20 minutes on average. Foot passengers are permitted on both routes run by Condor Ferries between Poole and France.

Check-in usually closes 60-90 minutes before the scheduled departure time and it’s advised to allow plenty of time during peak season, especially the school holidays.

The Condor Ferries Fleet and Onboard Facilities

Condor Ferries operates the Liberation and Voyager on sailings between the UK and France. Both can carry over 800 passengers and are high speed vessels compared to those operated by other companies.

First entering service in 2015, Condor Liberation is used on the Poole-Cherbourg route and has capacity for up to 880 passengers. The high-speed trimaran can travel at up to 39 knot, boasts numerous onboard facilities including a duty-free shop, bistro plus children’s TV room, and offers a range of seating options for passengers. The standard fare includes a seat within the Ocean Traveller cabin, but you can upgrade to seating in the Horizon lounge (for panoramic views) or in a private lounge with leather reclining seats.

The newest vessel in the fleet, high-speed catamaran Condor Voyager only entered service in 2021 and can travel at up to 42 knots. It has capacity for around 850 passengers and is usually used by Condor Ferries for sailings to St Malo. Onboard you’ll find a duty-free shop, cafe, bar, air-conditioned lounges (with a seat guaranteed for every passenger) plus WiFi.

Taking Pets Onboard with Condor Ferries

Passengers travelling in vehicles are able to take pets on all Condor Ferries between the UK and France. The charge is ยฃ20 each way and pets are required to stay in the vehicle at all times.

Depending on weather conditions you can normally visit the car deck to check on your pet during the crossing, but you’ll need to be accompanied by a member of staff. Unfortunately foot passengers are not permitted to take pets on any route.
