Three ferry companies operate on the route – P&O, DFDS and Irish Ferries. They all offer an extensive timetable, with each providing up to 15 sailings daily from Calais. The crossing takes around 90 minutes on average, with the longest taking up to 110 minutes. It’s a hugely popular and competitive route, which is reflected in the cheap ferry tickets you can get. Expect to pay as little as £39 for a day trip to Calais and £99 for a short break including a vehicle and up to 4 people.

Facilities at Calais Ferry Port
Passengers are extremely well catered for at Calais, with the port boasting an extensive range of facilities that aren’t common at most ports across France. Together with a selection of eateries and cafes, there’s also a currency exchange and a two-storey Duty Free shop for any last minute bargains. The WiFi service is free and is available in all waiting areas so you can move around the port without being disconnected. Other facilities include a free public car park (short-term stays only), ATM, toilets and baby changing areas.
For pet owners, the Port of Calais has several dog zones set up near the boarding lines and services points at the terminal.

Getting to Calais
Calais ferry terminal is easily accessible from the A16 and A26 motorways. The Port address is Car Ferry Terminal, Gare Maritime Est, Calais, 62100
🚗 By car: From central regions take the A26 north-west and near Calais take exit 18 on to the A216. From coastal routes from both the north and south take the A16 and come off at exit 47 on to the A216. The A216 will merge into the N216 and you can continue on it until you reach Calais ferry terminal.
🚈 By train: The closest train station to the ferry port is Calais Ville, which is 3 miles away and around a 10 minute taxi ride. There’s also a shuttle bus service from the port to the station. High speed trains run from the station to Paris and Lille, together with regional services to Boulogne and Dunkirk.

Irish Ferries and P&O both allow foot passengers to travel on the crossing, but DFDS doesn’t permit foot passengers on services from Calais.

A free shuttle bus service is available daily (running every 11-22 minutes). It connects the ferry terminal to Calais city centre.
