Stena Line currently operates on one ferry route between Ireland and France, which is the Rosslare to Cherbourg crossing. The journey takes around 17 hours on average and Stena Line offer 2 different fare types for the crossing:

Stena Line Timetables and Schedule

Stena Line offers up to 6 sailings weekly each way on the route between Rosslare and Cherbourg during peak season. Ferries usually depart from Rosslare between 5pm – 10pm and from Cherbourg between 7pm – 9pm.

Check-in opens 3 hours before the scheduled departure time and closes 60 minutes before.

The Stena Line Ferries Fleet and Onboard Facilities

The company uses the Stena Horizon and Stena Vision cruise ferries on the route between Rosslare and Cherbourg. Both vessels boast a range of facilities to keep you entertained during the overnight sailing.

Stena Horizon was built in 2016 and has capacity for just under 1,000 passengers. There’s something for everyone onboard, with a Movie Lounge offering the chance to take in a free movie during your crossing and a separate play area for kids to have fun in during the voyage. For a quick snack you can head to the Coffee House, or you can find something more substantial in the restaurant.

Both Standard and Superior cabins are available to book, as well as pet-friendly Standard cabins for anyone travelling with pets. The ferry also has onboard kennels that can be pre-booked when purchasing your tickets.

First entering service in 1987, Stena Vision (as she’s now known) was rebuilt in 2011 and now has capacity for up to 1,300 passengers. Onboard you can discover multiple dining options including a Deck Bar, buffet restaurant and coffee house.

There’s an extensive duty-free shop, together with a Nordic Spa for you to relax in during your journey. Younger sailers will be kept entertained in the Game Zone, or can have fun in the kids play area ‘Happy World’.

You can choose from a range of cabin options, from Standard to Deluxe. There are also dedicated ‘pet-friendly’ cabins that have been specially adapted to accommodate up to 2 pets.

Taking Pets Onboard with Stena Line

Pet owners are extremely well catered for on the crossing between Rosslare and Cherbourg, with pet-friendly cabin options available on both ferries servicing the route.

Up to 2 pets are permitted in each cabin and although pee pads are provided, you’ll need to bring your own bowls and dog beds. Pet owners must book a pet-friendly cabin if travelling on Stena Vision, but if travelling on Stena Horizon you have the option of leaving a pet in your vehicle or booking a place in the onboard kennels.
